Josh McCown’s dicey list of best NFL receivers includes Julian Edelman

Josh McCown began his first day as an NFL analyst with a very questionable take.

The former journeyman quarterback announced his retirement on Monday, and began his new career as an analyst on Wednesday. McCown spent time in the NFL with 10 different teams, and has a ton of inside knowledge about current players and teams.

That just didn’t translate well when he listed the best five wide receivers in the NFL. His top five included Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, Odell Beckham Jr., Julian Edelman and Mike Evans.

This leaves out Deandre Hopkins and Antonio Brown — and both of these receivers are widely discussed as the best two in the NFL.

Edelman makes sense on the list when it comes to the most clutch players in big moments, but Hopkins and Brown have him beat statistically. Edelman finished as the No. 28 player in receiving yards last season and No. 24 in receiving touchdowns.

Although it was a great gesture towards the Super Bowl MVP — it’s hard to say that he’s top five.
