West Ham have completed the signing of highly rated youngster Josh Landers from Hibernian.
The 17-year-old striker had been on trial with the Hammers at their Rush Green training ground in Dagenham and an agreement is now in place for his permanent transfer.
Landers, who turns 18 next month, will be integrated into the academy rather than the first-team squad.
A one-time Scotland Under-16 international, whose debut came against England, Landers has been starring for Hibernian at U19 level.
He has made three competitive appearances for the club’s senior side, two of which have come in the Scottish Premiership.
Landers, who signed his first professional contract in August 2023, had been at Hibs since joining their academy at the age of 10.
West Ham’s recruitment is now headed up by new transfer guru Kyle Macaulay, who joined the club from Chelsea last week as he rekindled a storied working relationship with manager Graham Potter dating back 13 years.
The club’s only piece of transfer business so far this month has been to terminate Maxwel Cornet’s loan at Southampton early in order to facilitate a new six-month loan for the Ivorian in Italy with Genoa.
West Ham are working hard to bring in a striker in the remaining days of the January window, with Evan Ferguson their primary target.
They have been left short in the position by injuries to Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Niclas Fullkrug.
