Josh Kroenke tells Arsenal fans what to expect in the final weeks of the summer transfer window

Josh Kroenke insists that Arsenal face no spending restrictions this summer beyond the limits of the funds the club can generate itself.

Speaking in an interview with football.london in Denver, Colorado the son of owner Stan Kroenke promised fans that recruitment chiefs for the Gunners have been told to be 'aggressive' in the transfer market.

Gabriel Martinelli currently stands as the only first team signing made by the north Londoners in a window that is set to close in less than a month.

A number of targets have been linked to Arsenal including Kieran Tierney, Ryan Fraser and Wilfried Zaha but with a limited budget of around £45million, the Gunners are still to make a major outlay this summer.

Supporters have called upon Stan Kroenke to invest some of his own money in the squad for the first time since he bought out the other shareholders to take the club under private ownership last year.

However, Josh Kroenke has reaffirmed the message that the Gunners must find other solutions and adapt their transfer strategy accordingly.

"I've always told [Raul and Vinai] we need to be as aggressive as possible," he said in his .

"It's no secret that we have a Champions League wage bill on a Europa League budget right now. That's a fact. And one that we're figuring out how to face internally at the moment.

"That doesn't mean that my father or I have ever said anything about any restrictions on spending. We know where we need to be and we know the areas we need to address on the pitch.

"We talk about those extensively, usually before the supporters become concerned about those roles. We try to stay ahead of the curve and these guys are working as hard as they can behind the scenes to bring some more talent into our pool."

According to Kroenke, rather than focus on established names, Arsenal must sign more players like Martinelli and last summer's signings such as Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

"It's not who you buy, it's how you buy," he said. "There's multiple statements to say how to skin that cat.

"While we're not going to be in the market for some of the top players in the world at the moment whilst they are the top players, we're actively scouting the globe to find the next big thing to become great at Arsenal football club.

"And not only will we bring them to the club, we'll be able to retain them in the fold going forward."
