Josh Kroenke speaks out on Arsenal mistake as Edu negotiates £68m transfer move

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Super League fallout was lowest point says Josh Kroenke

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Josh Kroenke has said that the Super League fallout was the lowest point for Arsenal FC.

When asked if it was the lowest point in relations between the club and its supporters, Kroenke replied "I wouldn't disagree with you."

"I'll say it that way. But as someone that always tries to find the positives in things, when you're at the bottom, there's only one way to go and that's back up.

"I said this to our fan advisory board who we met with, I don't want a 48-hour period to define us.

"We were presented with an opportunity. We asked ourselves a question, which was what was worse, a Super League or Super League without Arsenal? And we answered that question that we should be included in that. Were we wrong?

"Obviously. We listened to our fans. We made a quick pivot, removed ourselves from the situation. We apologised, and now we move forward."

Our View: Well, I certainly wouldn't expect Josh to say anything different. But it's good to see him speaking out a bit more and admitting it was a mistake.

I'm still concerned that there are people within the Arsenal hierarchy who believe the Super League is a good idea and that it's not completely dead yet, but hopefully the majority of them have realised just how badly they got it wrong.

Edu begins talks for Serie A striker

Arsenal have opened talks with Fiorentina to sign Dusan Vlahovic, according to Sky Italy's Gianluca Di Marzio.

The report states that Arsenal have an initial agreement of around £68 million with Fiorentina for the player's services, without having actually agreed the move with the player himself and his agent.

Vlahovic has scored 10 goals in 12 games so far this season and bagged 21 goals in 40 appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.

The Serbian international has made it clear that he does intend to sign a new contract with the Italian side, leaving many clubs interested in his services.

Our view: It's no surprise to see Arsenal being linked with strikers, as Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah's contracts have under a year remaining.

Both players do not currently seem keen on extending their stay at the Emirates, so Edu and Mikel Arteta will want to prepare for their exits.

Vlahovic has recently enjoyed a breakthrough at Fiorentina and is clearly very talented, so it's an exciting link. But he is still young and a move to the Premier League will be a big step up for him.

£68 million is a lot of money and Arsenal must be confident they are getting the right man.

Tierney back in Arsenal training

Arsenal have confirmed Kieran Tierney is continuing to be assessed ahead of Sunday's clash against Watford.

However, pictures emerged of the Left-Back participating in training at London Colney on Friday. The Scotsman has been nursing a bruised ankle over the last couple of weeks.

Our View: This will of course be a welcome development for Mikel Arteta, but the performances of Nuno Tavares have certainly eased the urgency to get Tierney back on the pitch.

Even if he is fit to play this weekend, I can't see him taking Tavares' place. There's no need to rush Tierney back especially when the summer signing is playing so well.
