Josh King's next club odds as Newcastle linked with ex-Everton striker

Newcastle United have been named the bookmakers' favourite to sign former Everton forward Josh King this summer.

The Magpies have previously been linked with the Norwegian international who is now a free agent following his short-term stint at Goodison Park.

King did not score in 11 substitute appearances with the Toffees, and was not handed a single start by Carlo Ancelotti after joining the club in the mid-season window.

However, the 29-year-old has previously shown his best form as a team-mate of both Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson during his five-and-a-half year spell at Bournemouth.

Newcastle are expected to be working with a limited transfer budget this summer, although a recent report has indicated head coach Steve Bruce could be handed a £50m 'war chest'.

The majority of supporters are expecting loan deals and free agents to form the bulk of the club's business, and the club's previous interest in King has led many to suggest the forward as a potential signing.

It is a view shared by bookmarkers Grosvenor Casinos, who have listed Newcastle as 3/4 favourites to complete a deal for the former Manchester United trainee.

Premier League rivals Aston Villa (6/4) and Norwich City (4/1) are considered to be in the running for King's signature, while Celtic (7/2) and Galatasary (6/1) are also listed as possible destinations.
