Josh King 'identified' as Celtic transfer target with Eddie Howe planning Everton striker Parkhead reunion

Potential next Celtic boss Eddie Howe is reportedly targeting former Bouremouth striker Josh King for his Parkhead rebuild.

The Norway cap is yet to start a game since joining Everton on deadline day but enjoyed a successful spell working under Howe at Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old's short-term deal at Goodison Park comes to an end this summer and would be available to move to the Premiership on a free.

The Scottish Sun report that King is on Howe's wish list and has been "identified" as a new recruit should he replace Neil Lennon.

A host of clubs have been linked with Celtic's talisman Odsonne Edouard who only has one year remaining on his current Parkhead deal.

With Leigh Griffiths, Partyk Klimala and Albian Ajeti all struggling for form this term any incoming boss will likely need to bolster the ranks up front to mount a title title next term.

The forward reached double figures in two Premier League seasons under Howe's stewardship and forged a deadly double act with Callum Wilson.

He was on the brink of a move to Manchester United in 2019 but the switch to the Old Trafford giants collapsed.
