Josh King explains transfer hope but sends warning over potential Everton deal

Josh King says he would "love to stay" at Everton beyond the end of his short-term deal.

But the deadline day signing accepts a long-term deal at Goodison has to be "right" for both him and the club.

King joined from Bournemouth earlier this month for, what Everton described as, a "nominal fee" on a deal that runs until the end of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti has already spoken about the potential for King to earn a longer contract and the 29-year-old could be given his first taste of Goodison tomorrow, as the Blues take on Fulham.

Speaking to the matchday programme, King said: “This squad and club are reaching and climbing and building something.

“I am eager to prove myself and to try to give the boss a reason to pick me.

“I feel ready and this week of training will do me good.

“I am focusing on working hard and trying to reach my top form as quickly as possible.

“Then we will see what happens in the summer.

“I am loving it and, of course, would love to stay but it has to be right for the club and for me.”
