Raiders rookie running back Josh Jacobs is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year. The day after he is expected to receive his award, he will be featured in a commercial for Kia. But you can view it right here ahead of time. It’s worth your time.
The ad is titled “Tough never quits” and it’s by Kia. In it Jacobs narrates over images of his younger self, opining as to what he might say to his younger self if he could.
“Sometimes I wonder what I’d tell my younger self if I ever saw him. I’d tell him ‘Josh, it’s going to be hard growing up homeless. But you’ve got to believe in yourself. You’re tougher than the world around you.”
He then speaks directly to his younger self as he imagines him in the passenger side of his car as he drops him off at a football field, handing him his helmet.
“And that field? That’s your proving ground. Push yourself to be someone. And I promise someday you will be.”
Then it goes between images of Jacobs as a child putting on his helmet and then as a rookie with the Raiders, being announced as he runs onto an NFL field.
It’s a pretty powerful commercial.
