Josh Jacobs is back with the Raiders, new contract, new jersey number and all. Jacobs and the team found middle ground to end his contract dispute, agreeing to an adjusted one-year deal worth up to $12 million with per-game bonuses. He returned to the team roughly two weeks prior to their opener against the Broncos.
Jacobs discussed his return to the team on Wednesday, stating that there are “no hard feelings now” and that it’s a “clean slate,” per ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.
"I mean, s---, we here," he said after practice on a conference call with reporters on site at the team facility. "We made it happen, so it ain't no hard feelings now. It's a clean slate with me. It was never ... no hate on each side. I understood it, but at the same time I understood my value, too. So it was just about meeting in the middle."
After missing OTAs and training camp, the big looming questions is about his potential Week 1 workload, but as Gutierrez cited, Jacobs said he hasn’t “missed a step” and also that he had “no errors [in practice].”
Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,653, along with total touches (393), while scoring 12 touchdowns on the ground. The Raiders placed the franchise tag on him, which he didn’t sign, leading to his holdout through all offseason activities.
