Josh Inglis capitalised on a fielding miscalculation to help power the Perth Scorchers to 3-185 in their BBL clash with the Melbourne Renegades at Optus Stadium.
Inglis crunched 72 not out off 41 balls and Colin Munro added 52 off 31 in the formidable total on Sunday.
The Scorchers were crawling along at 2-65 in the 11th over when Inglis received a massive reprieve when on 10 after skying a shot to third man.
Peter Hatzoglou took the catch on the rope, tossed the ball up in the air as he crossed over the line, before stepping back inside to catch the ball again.
But replays showed Hatzoglou stepped on the rope during the first part of the catch, meaning Inglis was given a reprieve along with the six runs.
Inglis and Munro went on a rampage from that point, with the duo combining for eight fours and seven sixes to dramatically lift the run-rate.
Renegades veteran Mohammad Nabi endured a forgettable end to the innings, dropping Inglis on 58 before conceding four runs with a misfield in the final over.
Munro's half-century off just 24 balls was the fifth fasted in Perth's history.
Jason Roy (27 off 32 balls) and Liam Livingstone (20 off 17) got the Scorchers off to a steady start, but neither player looked completely comfortable, especially against the Renegades spinners.
Livingstone was brought undone by a mesmerising wrong-un from 16-year-old Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad.
