Josh Hartnett Hospitalised Following A Car Accident With Police In Canada

Actor Josh Hartnett was hospitalised following an alleged collision between an SUV he was riding in and a Canadian police car late last week.

According to CBC, the Trap actor was riding in an SUV when it reportedly collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle in St John’s on Thursday, September 25.

In a statement, the RNC said the incident happened before 1 am at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue and that there was “significant damage” to both vehicles involved.

“The 59-year-old male driver and the 47-year-old male passenger of the SUV were sent to hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries,” the RNC said in a statement before adding that the male officer involved was also sent to hospital as a precaution.

Speaking to PEOPLE, a spokesperson for Hartnett confirmed that the actor was taken to a hospital before being released and cleared to continue work.

Hartnett is in Canada filming an “untitled Newfoundland project” with Netflix alongside Charlie Heaton and Mackenzie Davis.

In an Instagram post shared on August 1st, the streaming giant announced that the upcoming series is about a “hard-bitten fisherman discovers that his hometown is being terrorised by a mysterious creature”.

A source who claims to have “knowledge of the production” claimed to CBC that the actor was coming home from set when the collision happened.

Netflix has not announced a premiere date for the upcoming series.

Most recently, Hartnett was papped filming Verity alongside Anne Hathaway, which is set to premiere on May 15.

The Pearl Harbour star lives in the UK with his wife, British actor Tamsin Egerton, and their four children.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, ahead of the release of his recent film Fight or Flight, Hartnett opened up about his life in the UK, revealing that he gets roasted by his kids for being the “only American in our house”.

“I’m a foreigner in my own home,” the actor dished.

Investigations into the collision are currently ongoing, with the RNC asking any witnesses to come forward with information.
