Josh Gordon thanks Patriots after they place tender on him

Josh Gordon seems pleased that the New England Patriots are intent upon trying to retain him. The receiver celebrated on Instagram on Tuesday after the Patriots placed an original-round tender on Gordon, who is a restricted free agent despite currently serving a suspension.

The tender would set up Gordon to earn $2.025 million in 2019. However, he can receive offers from other teams. If he signs an offer and the Patriots decline to match it, he can leave, with the Patriots receiving a second-round pick as compensation.

In 11 games during 2018, Gordon finished with 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns with 18 yards per reception. However, he violated the terms of his reinstatement to the NFL, which resulted in a return to suspension and the commissioner’s exempt list.
