Josh Gordon releases statement: ‘Judge me on what I do now and in the future’

Josh Gordon has spoken for the first time since his reinstatement.

The New England Patriots wide receiver was reinstated on August 16 from the indefinite suspension that ended his season in 2018. He left the game to focus on his mental health and issues with substance abuse. The time that he took for himself seemed to be successful, and it was enough for the commissioner to feel comfortable enough to reinstate him.

Here’s his statement:

Gordon joined the Patriots in 2018 and was able to record 40 receptions, 720 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. He was able to build a strong bond with Tom Brady and Julian Edelman — and that will be incredibly important for the 2019 season.

New England lost Rob Gronkowski to retirement and Edelman is the only security blanket for Brady — so, Gordon’s return and apparent breakthrough will be monumental for the team.

Gordon has been battling these issues throughout his entire career, but he wants to move on focus on the present.
