Josh Gordon reacts on Instagram to joining the Seahawks

Josh Gordon has moved from one of the AFC’s best teams to one of the NFC’s best teams. The New England Patriots waived the veteran receiver this week, and the Seattle Seahawks claimed him on Friday.

Gordon celebrated on Instagram, writing “Looove This! #goahawks.” The wideout played 17 games for the Patriots in 2018 and 2019, and recorded 60 catches for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. He joined the Patriots after playing for the Cleveland Browns, where he served an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy. He was placed back on that suspension at the end of the 2018 season, but the NFL reinstated him in training camp in 2019.

The Patriots had Gordon serving as a starter for the first few weeks, though he was growing less dependable on the field, with his catch rate regressing slightly. Ultimately, he suffered a knee injury and landed on IR. New England chose to waive him when he got healthy.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson welcomed Gordon.

The Patriots’ decision to move on from Gordon comes after they traded for veteran receiver Mohamed Sanu. He joined a receiver group which includes Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski.
