Josh Gordon ineligible to play vs. Rams on Sunday

Covering DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett on Sunday is already going to be difficult enough for the Rams, and Josh Gordon would’ve made slowing down Seattle’s offense even tougher. However, he won’t be on the field for the Seahawks.

According to multiple reports, just one day after the Seahawks added him to their 53-man roster, Gordon and the team were notified that he did not satisfy the terms of his conditional reinstatement and has landed back on the commissioner’s exempt list.

He’s currently ineligible to practice or play in any games for the Seahawks, meaning he won’t be able to face the Rams in Week 16.

A source confirmed to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Gordon had another setback in his recovery from substance abuse and his comeback is now very much in jeopardy, with there being real fear he’ll never play again.

The Seahawks haven’t had Gordon all season and the offense has been just fine, so his return would’ve been a bonus. But this is a break for the Rams, who were set to be the first team to face him this season.

Now, they only have to worry about Metcalf and Lockett, which is undoubtedly one of the best duos in the NFL – and the quarterback throwing them passes is pretty good, too.
