Josh Ginnelly completes Hearts return as winger signs two-year deal

Winger Josh Ginnelly has signed a two-year deal with Hearts.

The former Preston man has joined on a permanent deal after impressing on loan despite an injury hit campaign.

He was then allowed to leave Preston on a free transfer when his contract ran out and continued his rehab at Tynecastle.

But he has now completed a switch back to the Premiership new boys after agreeing a two-year deal.

Robbie Neilson had confirmed that he was waiting on discussions continuing and now he’s officially signed.

He’ll be a Hearts player until at least 2023 and will wear the No. 30 over the next couple of campaigns, to the delight of supporters.

Ginnelly's signing is a huge boost to Neilson after he lost veteran Steven Naismith when the former Rangers and Kilmarnock man decided to retire on Wednesday.

Ginnelly was impressive during his time at Tynecastle and scored an injury-time equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Celtic in the Scottish Cup that ended in penalty heartache.

He made just nine league appearances but scored three goals during that time and excited fans before a hamstring injury ended his campaign.

He was a huge miss during the run-in but the 24-year-old will hope to make a big impression on the club's Premiership return.
