Josh Doig 'out of Hibs squad' to face Motherwell as transfer speculation mounts

Josh Doig has been left out of the Hibs squad to face Motherwell amid mounting transfer interest in the left-back.

The youngster enjoy a stunning breakthrough at Easter Road last season and played all 90 minutes of their second leg with Santa Coloma on Thursday.

He played a key role as they saw out the Europa Conference League tie in Andorra and he had been expected to return to the starting XI for their Premiership opener with Motherwell.

But according to the Edinburgh Evening News, he will play no part in that clash and has been left out of the squad altogether by Jack Ross.

That comes amid serious reported interest in the 19-year-old, who has previously been linked with Manchester City and Watford among a number of other clubs.

Hibs are believed to have rejected bids worth around £2.5m for the youngster and it's believed he isn't closing in on a move just yet.

But manager Ross appears to have decided the situation has become a distraction and opted to leave him out of the limelight.

Doig has made 37 appearances in total for Hibs since joining their academy from rivals Hearts in 2018 and has also spent time on loan at Queen's Park.
