Josh Doig joins in Hibs training as teen's transfer race delayed amid English Premier League interest

Hibs youngster Josh Doig joined in with training at East Mains this morning before the club's Europa Conference League clash on Thursday night.

Hibs take on Rijeka in the first leg of their conference league qualifying tie on Thursday night but after being left out of Sunday's win over Motherwell, many wouldn't have expected him to be involved.

But Doig took part in training with the rest of Jack Ross' side and is still available if they the Hibs boss decided to select him on Thursday night.

Ross has already admitted he expected Doig to leave Easter Road in the coming days and weeks but was hoping for a quick decision to be made over his future.

A fee of around £4million is expected with Watford and Burnley both interested in taking him south of the border before the end of this transfer window.

The teenager has also been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest on loan if he does go to one of the Premier League sides in this window.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene last season after a loan spell at Queen's Park but has impressed enough to earn interest from clubs including Arsenal.

And speaking about his potential move, Ross said: “Josh is highly likely to leave the club. He has been the subject of a lot of attention and much more concrete interest over the last few days.

“For us and Josh as a young man it needs to reach a head one way or another. Ideally I’d like to keep him but as the situation moves forward it looks more likely he will leave the club fairly soon.”

“There’s still a number of suitors. It’s not definitive but at this moment it looks more likely he will leave.”
