Jack Ross is resigned to losing Josh Doig with Watford and Burnley scrapping it out to land the Hibs wonder kid.
The Easter Road club are getting ready to cash on the 19-year-old full back with bids set to soar beyond £4m.
Ross wants a quick decision but admits the big money move is too good to turn down.
He said: “It looks much more likely that he’ll leave and if he does so it will be a fantastic move for him and good value for us as a club.
“Ideally, for me as a manager, you want those things to happen much sooner than in the past couple of days but you’ve got to deal with the problem it creates and find a solution.
“It’s been a challenging few days for him as he’s only 19 and it’s a new experience for him.
“At the moment it looks much more likely that he’ll be going soon.
“There’s two clubs definitely interested and whether any more come to the table on the back of this I don’t know.
“At the moment he has good options. It’s thoroughly deserved because of what he’s done here.
“If it happens it’s a great reflection on us developing him in a short period of time, making him better and getting him to a level that he’s in demand to those types of clubs.”
Ross left Doig out of yesterday’s thrilling 3-2 Premiership win at Motherwell as the youngster gets ready to go.
But he paid tribute to the defender for keeping cool while the interest has heated up.
Ross said: “It’s very easy to say don’t get your head scrambled but he’s a young man.
“He’s a really good boy Josh. I can’t speak highly enough of him as a person and he’s handled it well to date.
“But for all concerned, us as a club and more Josh as a young man. I think we need it concluded one way or the other. If he ends up staying then fantastic. If he doesn’t then he goes with my best wishes.”
Ross was thrilled with his side’s character as they twice came from behind to seal the points at Fir Park yesterday.
He said: “On the opening day if the season, you take any sort of victory especially away from home.
“But on top of that I thought we played well. Even at half-time we were behind but I was pleased with how we’d played in the first half.
“I’m delighted with the performance and even more pleased with the result.
“It’s not easy to win games in this league. We managed it last season because we are a good side and the players have got resilience and character about them.”
