Josh Doig Hibs transfer news as Watford have £2.5M bid 'rejected'

Hibs have reportedly turned down a sizeable bid from Watford for their impressive full-back Josh Doig.

There have been a plethora of clubs linked with Doig since he established himself in Jack Ross' first-team last season thanks to a string of brilliant displays, and Premier League giants Arsenal are among the teams credited with an interest.

But it appears newly-promoted Watford have been the first to make their move, with the Scottish Sun reporting the Hornets have seen their initial £2.5million opening offer, rising to £4million with add-ons, knocked back by the Easter Road hierarchy.

After winning promotion back to the English top-flight at the first attempt, Watford are aiming to add a youngster of great potential to a position they’ve recently strengthened following the recent signing of ex-Spurs and England defender Danny Rose on a free transfer.

But it looks like they'll need to up the stakes with the Hibees keen to secure top dollar for one of their most valuable stars, especially considering Doig has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025.

The 19-year-old played 35 times last season, including in May's Scottish Cup final defeat to St. Johnstone, and played a crucial part in helping Hibs secure their first-ever third-place finish in the Premiership.
