Josh Doig Hibs transfer insight as teammate plays down behind the scenes 'stress'

Christian Doidge reckons in-demand Josh Doig has put transfer speculation to one side as he gets back on the pitch for Hibs.

The 19-year-old returned to the squad to help his team smash Ross County in the Premiership on Sunday.

Doig has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with Premier League duo Watford and Burnley circling and that led his manager to keep him out of the spotlight in recent weeks.

But with no transfer agreed, Jack Ross put the teenager back in the team for the clash with the Staggies.

Welshman Doidge insists his teammates attitude hasn't change at Easter Road despite the exit talk ramping up around him.

He told the Edinburgh Evening News : "Josh has been brilliant.

“Last year he was fantastic. He's had a little bit of stuff going on behind the scenes and for him to go and put in a performance like that, he should be really proud of himself.

"I think one of Josh's main strengths is mentality. Behind the scenes, he's a lovely lad.

"He works so hard and he's definitely reaping the rewards for that.

"He could have been really stressed about it, but he's come out and put a really good performance in – I've been really impressed by him.”
