Josh Doig heading for Hibs transfer exit as Jack Ross admits 'highly likely' move

Josh Doig is close to a big money move out of Hibs.

Jack Ross admitted the 19-year-old was “highly likely” to leave Easter Road this month after interest in Scotland’s young player of the year stepped up in recent days.

Doig was left out if the Hibees squad for Sunday’s Premiership clash at Motherwell with Ross admitting it was for the player’s own good.

And he was non-committal when pushed on whether the left-back was likely to move down south or to another Scottish club.

Watford had a £2.5m bid booted out for Doig earlier in the summer but were expected to return with an improved offer while Celtic, Arsenal, West Ham, Leicester City and Leeds United have been linked with the teenager.

Ross said: “Josh is highly likely to leave the club. He has been the subject of a lot of attention and much more concrete interest over the past few days.

“For us and Josh as a young man it needs to reach a head one way or another. Ideally I’d like to keep him but as the situation moves forward it looks more likely he will leave the club fairly soon.”

Asked on BBC Radio Scotland if Doig was likely to move down south, Ross added: “Possibly. There’s still a number of suitors. It’s not definitive but at this moment it looks more likely he will leave.”
