Josh Dobbs is the hero, leads Vikings to improbable victory

There is only one way to describe Sunday’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons: weird.

After dealing with incredible adversity the entire game, the Vikings drove down the field and Brandon Powell caught the game-winning touchdown from five-day Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs in an improbable 31-28 win over the Falcons

After the first two drives, Vikings fans were feeling pretty good overall. Jaren Hall was balling out, going 7-of-10 for 78 yards passing and 11 rushing yards. Unfortunately, Hall suffered a concussion at the end of the second drive and missed the rest of the game.

Injuries marred the game for the Vikings. Josh Metellus missed some of the game after being injured right after Hall’s injury with both K.J. Osborn and Cam Akers having left the game due to injuries.

The game was odd in the first half. The Falcons climbed up to 11 points with three field goals and a safety. The Vikings got close with a touchdown late to get within one.

Both teams traded field goals and touchdowns before the Falcons got one up on the Vikings in the fourth quarter with a Tyler Allgeier touchdown with 2:09 left in the game.

When push came to shove, the Vikings got the ball back and Josh Dobbs led a drive down the field for the game-winning score.

Dobs was excellent considering the circumstances. From the multiple third and fourth down conversions with his legs to dropping dimes down the field, Dobbs impressed everyone with his performance, especially on the final drive. He finished an impressive 20-of-30 for 158 yards and two touchdowns along with 66 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Next up for the Vikings are the New Orleans Saints next Sunday afternoon.
