Josh Cullen called up to Ireland squad in place of injured Harry Arter

Josh Cullen has been drafted into the Ireland squad for the injured Harry Arter.

The Anderlecht midfielder was on the team flight to Bratislava this afternoon.

He missed the morning training session but will train with the squad in Slovakia tomorrow.

Cullen, who has recovered from Covid 19, joined the Belgian giants from West Ham yesterday. And speaking about the move on Sunday, Ireland boss Stephen Kenny said: "Josh is a very good player.

"He does all the simple things really well and seems to have a super attitude."

Arter is ruled out of Thursday's Euro 2020 playoff because of a thigh injury.

He shipped it in Nottingham Forest's defeat to Bristol City on Saturday.

Arter had a scan in England yesterday, the result of which prevented him from travelling.

Earlier today, the Ireland camp was rocked by a positive Covid case.

A senior member of the non-playing and management staff tested positive.
