Josh Brolin In Negotiations To Star In Horror Thriller

Josh Brolin American actor

Josh Brolin is currently in negotiations to star in the upcoming horror thriller 'Weapons' by filmmaker Zach Cregger, set to be produced by Barbarian. The project, which was initially scheduled to start production last year, faced delays due to the dual writers and actors strikes, pushing the filming to fall 2023.

The delay caused a scheduling conflict with the previous star, Pedro Pascal, who had commitments to 'Fantastic Four,' currently in production this summer. Cregger penned the top-secret script for 'Weapons,' described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic with a tone reminiscent of Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Magnolia.'

The film marks a reunion for the Barbarian producing team, with Cregger producing alongside Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Miri Yoon from Vertigo is also on board as a producer.

If the deal with Brolin goes through, it would be a significant achievement for the production, as the actor is known for being selective about his projects and directors. While Brolin has experience in sci-fi and comic book genres, he has yet to venture into the horror genre.

Brolin's upcoming projects include his role in Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part Two,' where he reprises his character of war master Gurney Halleck. The highly anticipated film is set to be released by Warner Bros. and Legendary on March 1. Additionally, Brolin stars in Amazon's neo-Western sci-fi series 'Outer Range,' with the new season premiering in May. Apart from acting, Brolin is also serving as an executive producer on the series and is set to direct a few episodes this season.

Brolin is represented by CAA and Johnson Shapiro in his professional endeavors.
