Marvel star Josh Brolin has apologised after sharing a picture of his family not adhering to social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic.
The actor, who portrayed Thanos in the Avengers films, came under fire last week after sharing a picture of himself and his wife Kathryn and kids visiting his dad James and stepmother Barbra Streisand in Malibu.
The family were pictured posing around a pool while wearing face masks, with Brolin captioning the post: “There’s nothing like a good meeting up with family when all you can hear is a distant muffling of what used to be called words.”
However, after fans expressed their frustration that the actor had left his home to visit another household at all, the 52-year-old took to Instagram to share a video apologising for his actions.
“My father lives next door to us, and we had a plan to go see them and not be near them and that plan was broken and that’s our responsibility,” he said, adding: “I think it was irresponsible.
“You know, it’s hard to be honest sometimes. It’s hard to be honest and say, ‘Maybe I screwed up’ and I knew that that was in the air, not because of the responses, but the responses brought me back to my own truth and it’s humbling as hell, man.”
He continued: “Because I know there’s some people out there that [have] no masks, no gloves, no interest in it. They think it’s in your head, that you’ll survive because of immunity that’s created from your own psychic weight. But I know for me that’s not the case, we’ve been very responsible and I apologise about that.”
