Josh Bowler responds to Nottingham Forest transfer as loan move confirmed

Nottingham Forest winger Josh Bowler has said that it was a ‘no-brainer’ to return to former club Blackpool on loan after the move was confirmed on Thursday.

The 23 year-old returns to the Seasiders on a temporary basis less than six months after signing for Forest in a deadline day deal. After becoming a Forest player, he joined sister club Olympiacos on loan.

However, that move didn’t go as hoped with Bowler struggling for regular game time in the Greek league. He made a total of four league appearances and was left out of the squad for the last four games.

That led to Steve Cooper and his backroom staff to make the decision to terminate the loan deal, and instead send Bowler back to Blackpool until the end of the season. The deal sees him return to the club where he scored ten goals and provided three assists in 52 appearances.

Upon the completion of his move back to Bloomfield Road, the Forest man said that he jumped at the chance of returning due to the support he’s received since leaving the club.

“It feels amazing to be back," he said, via LancsLive . "I’ve only got good memories here and as soon as the opportunity arose, I wanted to come back.

"From the first day I left until yesterday, I got a message every day from a Blackpool fan or some of the players. You really do notice the love and it makes you feel so good.

"It made it a no-brainer to come back. Hopefully that translates onto the pitch because football is a confidence game and I’m a confidence player.

“I know the fans will get behind me, I know the fans will get behind the team, and I can’t wait to show them again what I can do.”

Bowler won’t be eligible to face Forest in the weekend’s FA Cup clash between the two sides. He could make his second debut for Blackpool when they take on Watford in the Championship on Saturday, January 14.
