Josh Adams runs for 202 yards as Notre Dame claims 35-14 win over NC State

SOUTH BEND, Ind. _ Josh Adams rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown as No. 9 Notre Dame defeated No. 14 North Carolina State, 35-14, Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium.

Quarterback Brandon Wimbush threw two touchdowns and rushed for one score to help the Irish (7-1) add another line to their College Football Playoff resume.

Notre Dame won its sixth consecutive game and its second straight against a team ranked in the top 15 entering the game.

The Wolfpack (6-2) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.

N.C. State entered the day sixth in the nation in rushing defense, allowing just 91.3 yards per game. The Irish finished with 318 rushing yards, with Adams' 77-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as the highlight. It was Adams' seventh run of at least 60 yards this season. Adams has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game twice this season. He had 229 rushing yards on Sept. 16 at Boston College.

Cornerback Julian Love also provided a big play on defense. The Irish led 21-14 in the third quarter when Love intercepted a pass and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. It was Love's second interception return for a touchdown this season, with the first coming on Sept. 23 at Michigan State. Saturday's interception ended N.C. State quarterback Ryan Finley's streak of 339 passing attempts without an interception.

Adams added his 77-yard touchdown run with 4:11 remaining in the third quarter to put the exclamation point on the victory.
