Joseph Sinclair: Celebrity photographer who worked with Dua Lipa and Paul Mescal dies aged 49

Celebrity photographer Joseph Sinclair - who captured the likes of Dua Lipa, Nicole Scherzinger and Paul Mescal - has died suddenly. He was 49.

Sinclair had worked with stage and screen stars such as Hannah Waddingham, Jack Lowden, Jodie Whittaker and Asa Butterfield.

He recently captured the young stars of The Crown - Meg Bellamy, who played a young Kate, Luther Ford, who played Prince Harry, and Ed McVey, who played Prince William in the final series of the Netflix hit.

His work had been featured in Q, Esquire, Vogue, Sunday Times and Vanity Fair.

Sinclair had also worked on publicity campaigns for Netflix, Disney, Amazon & HBO.

Sinclair’s agent, John Parkinson, confirmed the sad news.

"Joseph sadly passed away last Friday.

“I spoke to him around 4pm on the phone, then later found out that he had died that evening.

“We are all very sad – he was a very talented man.”

Sinclair had been shooting professionally for almost 15 years.

According to his website, his work was often inspired by films and music while growing up in England in the 80s and 90s.

His website reads: “I began taking photographs when I was around eight years old. Fascinated by capturing people on film.

“It's the passion to create that drives me.

“The wonderful thing about having a camera is you never know where it will take you, who you will meet and what the next exciting project will be.”

Tributes were paid to the photographer.

Singer Lisa Scott-Lee wrote: “I’m so sad to hear about the passing of photographer @josephsinclair. Joseph was a talented photographer & me feel at ease standing up there alone after years of being in Steps. He shot my Electric single cover and was a joy to work with.”

Darren Styles, the owner of Attitude Magazine, added: “We’re not sure how nor why, but the fabulous @josephsinclair has passed - and everyone at @AttitudeMag is bereft and sends love to his partner, Ryan. His work for us, over years, lit up our pages as surely as he did every room. May he rest easy, he was a creative genius.”
