Joselu's message to Newcastle United fans as he joins Deportivo Alavés

Joselu has thanked Newcastle United fans for their support after bringing his two-year stay on Tyneside to an end.

The 29-year-old heads back to Spain to join La Liga side Deportivo Alavés on a three-year-deal for an undisclosed fee.

Having joined from Stoke City for £5 million in the summer of 2017, Joselu scored seven goals in 52 appearances for United but always look destined to leave ever since rumours of a move to the Chinese Super League emerged back in January.

Taking to social media, Joselu passed his best wishes onto Newcastle United fans.

"Dear Newcastle United fans," he wrote on Twitter.

"The time has come to say goodbye. I just can say thank-you.

"[You have an] Incredible Stadium, city, club and people. Wish you all the best for the upcoming season."

Joselu's exit leaves Untied with just Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto as recognised senior strikers.

United's U23 forward Elias Sorensen replaced Joselu in the squad for the pre-season tour to China.
