Jose Mourinho 'wants Real Madrid job' - and is keeping close eye on Zinedine Zidane

Jose Mourinho is reportedly biding time over his next move because he is waiting to see what happens at Real Madrid .

The 56-year-old is believed to have been inundated with offers since his sacking as Man Utd manager in December last year.

However despite professing his desire to get back involved with the game as soon as possible, Mourinho is yet to decide on his next challenge.

AS report that Mourinho is instead keeping a close eye on the situation at his former club Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane's position as boss under pressure.

The Los Blancos were under Mourinho's stewardship for a fairly fruitful spell between 2010-2013.

He guided the team to their first La Liga title in four years to break a period of dominance by rivals Barcelona , as well as achieving his highest ever win rate percentage in any of his managerial roles.

Mourinho is also one of the only bosses to have left Madrid under the rare scenario of still being on good terms with the club.

This would stand him in good stead for a return to the Bernabeu should Madrid chiefs feel the need to relieve Zidane of his duties.

Zidane is under increased pressure at the club after Madrid's poor campaign last season, coupled with the distraction of the Gareth Bale transfer saga.

Madrid started the season with a decent win away at Celta Vigo, but slipped up against Real Valladolid at home in a 1-1 draw.

Zidane slammed his players after the performance, before admitting there is more scrutiny on him and his team this season.

"I noticed it at the Bernabeu - the crowd [feels the pressure] too," Zidane said.

"The fans also have to help us. There's no choice. I know it is difficult, but I'm asking because they have also taken advantage of our successes. We will try everything on our part."
