Jose Mourinho 'urged' to sign Adama Traore after his performance for Wolves against Tottenham

Tottenham's players reportedly begged Jose Mourinho to sign Spanish winger Adama Traore after their 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday.

The 23-year-old terrorized the Spurs defence throughout the encounter at Molineux, and was fouled a number of times as he raced down the wing.

He also scored Wolves' equaliser with a thumping effort from outside the box, although it would prove to not be enough as Jan Vertonghen headed in a dramatic injury time winner for the visitors.

According to Football Insider some of Spurs' more senior players spoke to Mourinho after the encounter to express how impressed they were with Traore's showing, and urged the new manager to do everything he can to sign the player.

Traore has improved massively from his early displays for Wolves after joining from Middlesbrough for a fee of around £18m in 2018.

He often frustrated by lacking an end product, but has been much more clinical this season, and has been an ever-present during the current campaign, scoring four times in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Wolves captain Conor Coady appeared angered by Spurs' frequent fouling on Traore, with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Harry Kane all booked for late tackles on the player, and he has called for referees to offer more protection to the player.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Coady said: " Tottenham were clever with it in terms of how many different players were fouling him but it's hard from our point of view to keep seeing that.

"They were spreading things (fouls) out. That's what's disappointing. We speak to referees every game. They say they can't do much about it because they are booking the players and they are not red card offences.

"But at the same time it's so frustrating for us, when he gets past players and he's then brought down like that."
