Jose Mourinho told Harry Kane will quit Tottenham next summer if they don't win a trophy

Jose Mourinho has been warned that Harry Kane will look to quit Tottenham next summer if the club do not land a trophy this season.

The Spurs striker is yet to taste silverware in his career, and at 27, has already hinted at possible opportunities elsewhere.

Only as recently as the start of lockdown Kane suggested he may be forced to move on if Tottenham are unable to match his ambitions.

And former Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle feels the clock is now ticking on Mourinho to deliver some success.

Hoddle told The Gary Newbon Sport Show on Punching.TV: "Harry Kane needs a bit of silverware at the end of this season if he's going to stay.

"I think Gareth Bale's come to win trophies for Tottenham.

"I think Son (Heung-min) is another one who wants to win something for Tottenham.

"There's a lot of players there who put in a lot of hard work building Tottenham up in the last four or five years.

"They've got to the Champions League final, but they haven't won anything.

"They haven't got anything to show for the work that has been put in and it's a make or break season for them."

Kane has been linked with both Man Utd and Real Madrid in the past and would have no shortage of potential suitors if he decided to call time on his Spurs career.

The forward is contracted to Tottenham until 2024 though, which would prove to be a huge obstacle with club owner Daniel Levy, who has previously claimed Kane would cost in the region of £200million.

But Kane's recent comments have at least proved his departure is something he is considering.

“I get asked this question a lot, it’s one of them things... I couldn’t say yes, I couldn’t say no," Kane said when asked whether he will ever leave Tottenham.

"If I don’t feel like we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not someone to stay there just for the sake of it.

“I’m an ambitious player. I want to become a top top player, so it all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team.

“So, it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever but it’s not a no either."
