Jose Mourinho to hold Tammy Abraham talks after Chelsea agree £34million deal

Jose Mourinho will hold talks with Tammy Abraham on Thursday to try and convince him to move to Roma.

Chelsea have agreed a £34m deal with Roma for the 23-year-old striker who is likely to fall further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge with the imminent arrival of Romelu Lukaku.

Roma have already held negotiations with Abraham and his representatives and the England striker is ready to leave Chelsea but clearly has some reservations about moving abroad.

Roma boss Mourinho is keen on Abraham and rates him highly but the deal is in the balance and will depend on the talks which will resume after Chelsea’s Super Cup tie with Villarreal.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel included Abraham in his squad for the European tie but will not stand in his way from leaving this summer.

Abraham is believed to be keen on a move to Arsenal but Chelsea would prefer him to go abroad while West Ham have also been monitoring developments.

Arsenal could not do a deal unless they offloaded a striker but so far there has been little movement over Alexandre Lacazette.

Chelsea would prefer a permanent move rather than a season-long loan which would be the other solution for Arsenal.

But Roma is the immediate chance to Abraham to get away this summer and strengthen his claims to get back in the England set-up.
