Jose Mourinho tells England to drop Man City's Phil Foden vs Czech Republic

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has suggested England should drop Phil Foden for tonight's clash against the Czech Republic.

Gareth Southgate's side were extremely disappointing in Friday's goalless draw against Scotland and, while qualification to the knockout stages is assured, require a better showing.

Changes could be afoot for tonight's game, with Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount both self-isolating and unavailable.

Manchester City ace Foden has started both matches for England so far at Euro 2020 but Mourinho believes he could be the man sacrificed this evening.

What changes should England make? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

"When you have squad, it can not be drama for anyone; the players, fans and for us. When the squad is very good, it's a normal situation," he told TalkSport.

"To leave Foden or Phillips out, it's not to say we are not happy or they are not playing well. It's just a very natural situation. It's a big squad, 26 players with lots of quality. Everybody is ready to play. I don't know about Henderson or Maguire. But everyone else is ready.

"Every game is different. The next match if you play France, Portugal or Germany; then you have different approach. If you play Germany, they are so so so strong in playing two-full backs and three centre-backs. Maybe if England play Germany then Gareth adopts that system. Maguire, Mings and Stones in the middle. This internally has to be smooth."

Mourinho has suggested that both Jude Bellingham and Jack Grealish come into the starting line-up, with Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling supporting Harry Kane from the wider positions in the final third.

Grealish is a leading candidate to start due to Mount's unavailability, having caught the eye in his cameo off the bench against Scotland.

Victory this evening for England would see them secure top-spot in the group, with their Round of 16 opponents yet to be determined.
