Jose Mourinho targets Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara after Harry Kane injury blow

Jose Mourinho has pointed the finger at Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara as Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane faces a spell on the sidelines.

Kane failed to reappear for the second half of the Reds' 3-1 Premier League win in London on Thursday evening after twice requiring treatment during the opening 45 minutes.

The England man was caught on the right ankle by a late challenge from Thiago which resulted in a free-kick, and then landed awkwardly on his other ankle during an aerial duel with Joel Matip closer to half-time.

And Mourinho was less than impressed with the intervention of Thiago, who was later booked for a foul on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

"Two ankles, the first was a bad tackle, it was Thiago, the second one I didn't know well," said the Portuguese.

"But two injuries in both ankles, the second one worst than the first one - a few weeks, I don't know. There are some players you can't replace.

“For Harry to leave a game when he wants to play with the team losing, for Harry to come out means it is not a nothing injury.

“For how long I can’t tell you. I don’t know, we will have to wait and see.”

With Kane watching on, Liverpool secured a comprehensive 3-1 win to strengthen their place in the top four.
