Jose Mourinho speaks out on Dele Alli's angry substitution reaction as Spurs lost to RB Leipzig

It was a night of frustration for Tottenham Hotspur as they lost out 1-0 at home against RB Leipzig in their Champions League last 16 clash.

Spurs lost out to a Timo Werner penalty in the second half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with RB Leipzig impressing in north London as they claimed a first leg advantage ahead of the game in Germany next month.

Mourinho's men showed their frustration at times during a disappointing night, and none more so than Dele Alli, who looked to be furious after being substituted during the second half of the game.

Alli was taken off after 64 minutes, with the England international being replaced by Erik Lamela.

And he did not look impressed with the decision as he threw a water bottle to the ground and showed his frustration as he took his seat on the bench, with his side trailing to Werner's goal.

But Mourinho spoke out about Alli's reaction after the game when he was asked about it in his post-match press conference.

“I think he was angry with his performance. Not with me," the Spurs head coach said.

"I think he understands why I took him off and the team improved."
