Jose Mourinho speaks out on Christian Eriksen's Inter Milan move and if he will play vs Watford

Christian Eriksen's future is still up in the air as we approach the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Tipped to leave the club last summer after entering the final year of his Tottenham contract, the Dane remained in north London and has continued to feature for the first team despite so much uncertainty over his future.

Now able to speak to foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement for the 2020/21 season, there is also the possibility that he may leave this month with Inter Milan very keen on luring him to the San Siro.

Many believed that the midfielder had in fact played his final game for the club last Saturday against Liverpool as he appeared to wave goodbye to the crowd after handing one lucky fan his shirt.

However, Eriksen was named in the side for Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third round replay.

Speaking about his player's future with the clock ticking down until the transfer window slams shut, Mourinho has stated that there has so far been no offer from the Italian giants and that Eriksen will play against Watford on Saturday lunchtime.

"You have to ask the agent and Inter because they know more than me," he told reporters when asked a possible move to Serie A for Eriksen.

"If they are confident it is because they are ready to make us an offer, which didn't happen yet.

"When I see people speaking, especially people with responsibilities, it makes me surprised. He is trying to do his best and it is normal until January 31 his brain is not totally focused.

"It is a normal consequence of the situation. I still don't understand that optimism. For a few matches people are saying he is playing his last game. Eriksen plays tomorrow."

Eriksen has started the last five games for Spurs after initially featuring on the bench under Mourinho.
