Jose Mourinho has listed Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur's most important players ahead of the Champions League final between the two in Madrid tomorrow night.
The former Manchester United boss has been opening up on the final of a competition he knows plenty about, having landed the trophy on two occasions with FC Porto and Inter Milan earlier on in his managerial career.
When it comes to the final this weekend, Mourinho feels that two players above all others will come to the fore at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Defensive stalwart Virgil van Dijk is Liverpool's most important player according to Mourinho, while midfielder Christian Eriksen gets the nod for Spurs.
Asked to choose one key player from each side, Mourinho responded: "If I had to choose one, fundamentally in this last phase of growth, it would be Van Dijk (for Liverpool)," Mourinho told Eleven Sports.
"For Tottenham, because they made the final without Harry Kane, I would say Eriksen."
Mourinho also went on to explain why he feels neither side can be classed as the favourite ahead of the final.
"I always say that the team that had something extraordinary on their way to the final is the team that is a little further ahead," Mourinho added.
"The curious thing about this final is that the two arrive in an absolutely incredible way. They arrive there almost like titans, completely convinced that they are going to destroy their rival, it has everything to be a final with two teams completely convinced that ‘the trophy is mine’."
