Jose Mourinho shares his wish for Arsenal and Chelsea in the 2019/20 Premier League season

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he hopes that the likes of Arsenal, United and the Blues can compete for the title this season.

The three clubs are seen as the outsiders in comparison to the rest of the top-six, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham considered to be in a far stronger position after their recent exploits.

Arsenal and United will both play outside of the Champions League this season, while Chelsea are somewhat of an unknown after the appointment of Frank Lampard.

Although admitting it will be difficult for them to close the gap, Mourinho hopes that somehow the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea can build a push for the league title.

“The obvious thing is to want Arsenal, Chelsea and United to also be at that level, it would be incredible,” he said, speaking as part of Sky Sports' coverage of the clash between Manchester United and Chelsea.

“Sometimes in football unpredictable things can happen. Who knows, an amazing start from one of them, something clicks and sometimes that can make a huge difference.

“But we are speaking about a team who last season won everything in England and a team who are European champions, speaking about the European runners-up.

“Then a United side that finished sixth and will be playing Europa League, Arsenal who finished fifth, and Chelsea with this ban.”
