Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has sent his old club a transfer message after the latest blow to Harry Kane.
It has been revealed that the England striker will spend the next three months on the sidelines as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
Kane suffered the problem in the New Year's Day loss at Southampton and it has left Tottenham without a recognised top striker up front.
This has led to calls for Spurs to make a big move in the January transfer window, with Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani linked.
Bent has been the latest pundit to offer his verdict on the situation and he has urged his former club to sign the 32-year-old.
"I knew it (Kane’s injury) was going to be a big one. The moment you tear your hamstring, it’s four to six months or even more. It takes time to heal," Bent told talkSPORT.
"So Spurs now need to sign a centre-forward in this transfer window.
"Not one to play back-up to Harry Kane when he comes back, they need one to come in NOW who is ready to go.
"We’ve spoken about Cavani – there’s your guy! Go and get him! He’s getting on in age but can still do a job.
"They need a no.1 centre-forward now, they need to sign someone who can score goals right now.
"You can’t worry about, ‘we can’t rock the boat with Harry when he comes back’, you’ve got no time. Right now they have to break the bank and bring somebody in.
"They might have to spend £60 million upwards – these guys do not grow on trees – but they’ve got to be ready to score goals now, not a project, someone who is ready to go."
