New Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino will always be welcome at the club following his dismissal on Tuesday evening.
The Argentine paid the price for a shocking start to the season and he was replaced in the hotseat by the ex-Chelsea boss 11 hours after the news broke about his sacking.
Mourinho held his first training session with his new players on Wednesday afternoon and he will be fully focused on starting off life in N17 with three points against West Ham this weekend.
Before discussing his new role at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Mourinho paid tribute to his predecessor at his first press conference as Spurs head coach.
"I've been smiling for two days," he said. "First of all I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio.
"I have to congratulate him on the incredible job he did. I share with you what we shared inside.
"This club will always be his home, this training ground his training ground. He is always welcome here.
"Tomorrow is another day. He will find happiness soon. He will give everything like he did at this club.
"He will leave with sadness with the feeling that he did great work. It is what everyone at the club felt."
