Jose Mourinho sends '2004' Premier League warning to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp

Jose Mourinho has told Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp that he must adapt to the hectic Premier League fixture schedule.

Due to the truncated nature of the season, games are being played in a much narrower time frame and there has been a significant increase in injuries as a result.

Liverpool have lost Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the long-term while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also sidelined.

Klopp has heavily criticised the calender congestion this term but Mourinho warned him that it is unlikely to change.

"Klopp arrived by 2015," the Tottenham Hotspur manager said.

"I arrived in 2004 so what he knows from 2015, I know since 2004. And nothing changes. We have to adapt to it and that's the way it is."
