Jose Mourinho says what Tottenham fans want to hear about Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele will play together for Tottenham at some point in the near future.

With the former finding his form at the start of the year and the latter doing likewise this season, fans have called for the duo to be unleashed together now that they are over their injury issues.

Mourinho did in fact start both alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the recent 3-3 draw against LASK in the Europa League, but his experiment only lasted an hour with Ndombele hooked on 65 minutes and Lo Celso also taking his place on the bench six minutes later.

The Tottenham boss once again has a big call to make over the duo for Wednesday evening's game at Liverpool and he opened up on what he plans to do with both of them when asked at his pre-match press conference.

"It's not difficult. Difficult is when you don't have any one of them," Mourinho told football.london when asked if it's difficult to pick between the two.

"Can they play together? Yes, they can. The physical condition for both is very important.

"To play with the two together, we need them to be fit and play with the right intensity. And they will play together. I'm not saying tomorrow or Sunday or next week but they will play together.

"It's not a problem when I have both growing up and playing quite well."

Given Tottenham can go three points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table providing they win at Anfield on Wednesday, fans will have their fingers crossed that Lo Celso and Ndombele will be on the pitch at the same time to mastermind the win.

As it would be a huge statement of intent if the Lilywhites were to win on Merseyside given Jurgen Klopp's team brilliant form on home soil, the 57-year-old has stressed that his side aren't going to Anfield to make a big statement.

"We don't want to make any statement, just play a game and win it," added Mourinho.

"If the responsibility for that is Liverpool's then great, if it's ours because we are not able to perform well would be a worst feeling.

"We're not there to make any kind of statement. It doesn't matter the result, on Thursday morning we'll be here and Sunday we will be playing again.

"It's not a statement, it's just a match but we go there and our objective is to win."
