Jose Mourinho says Manchester United star Scott McTominay 'will always be my boy'

Jose Mourinho has affectionately dubbed Scott McTominay "my boy" as he hailed the appointment of Steve Clarke as Scotland boss.

The Special One believes the SFA’s decision last week comes at the right time for his former Chelsea assistant.

And the former Manchester United manager reckons his one-time Old Trafford protege McTominay will help the Clarke era get off to a flier.

The ex-Kilmarnock boss’ first match in charge of his country is against Cyprus at Hampden in a Euro 2020 qualifier next month.

And Mourinho told Sky Sports: “I think he’s more than ready.

“First of all, he feels his country deeply, I know that.

“And second you have an accumulation of experience during all these years.

“Assistant manager in top clubs, first-team manager in many others.

“Now the past couple of years in Scotland, I think this challenge comes at the right moment for him.

“And I just hope that my boy can help him because Scott McTominay will always be my boy.”

Mourinho gave McTominay his United debut in 2017 against Arsenal.
