Jose Mourinho's worry about Frank Lampard that could hand Tottenham a big advantage vs Chelsea

Jose Mourinho is the Tottenham Hotspur head coach now, but it's easy to forget he had another job at the beginning of the season.

After being sacked by Manchester United a year ago, the Portuguese tactician did some punditry work during the second half of the 2018/2019 campaign as he looked for his next job in management.

Despite predicting he would be back in the dugout by August, that wasn't the case and therefore Mourinho joined the Sky Sports team.

As a pundit he gave his thoughts on a number of topics across several games and last month revealed his big worry for former club Chelsea under Frank Lampard.

"In the first weekend I was worried and I'm still worried with the big matches," he told Sky Sports."I think fantastic work. The kids coming into the team are fitting amazingly well with the top class players like Willian and Kante.

"I think really, really great work by Frank. But they lost twice against United, they lost against Liverpool at home.

"They conceded four goals against Ajax and I’m very, very curious to see Chelsea in the next match at the Etihad.

"I'm curious to see if they found that great empathy between the good football they play and the pragmatism that the top teams must have to play against top teams.

"When they find that I think they have a great team for the future. I don't believe in them to finish top two, but I believe very seriously for them to finish top four."

The Blues would go on to lose that match against Manchester City, but did earn praise for their performance at the Etihad Stadium.

But to Mourinho's point, Chelsea have now lost against both Manchester clubs as well as Liverpool in games against the top six this season.

It just so happens that the next top-six clash for Lampard's side is against Spurs this weekend.

Ahead of trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the west London outfit have lost three of their last four Premier League outings which means their lead in the race for a Champions League spot has been cut to three points.

Therefore, Mourinho's worry about his former club could work in the favour of his new club as victory for the north Londoners will seen them spend Christmas in the top four.
