Jose Mourinho's wonderful gesture as Tottenham are tipped to seal free transfer for PSG ace

Mourinho set to complete bargain move for PSG star

Spurs are tipped to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier.

Reports in France this week says Jose Mourinho has personally spoken with Meunier to convince him to join the north London club.

And Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol claims Meunier is keen to head to Spurs to team up with Mourinho.

He said: "Spurs need another right back and Thomas Meunier would be a great addition to their squad. He is out of contract at PSG at the end of June and he will be one of the most sough-tafter players during the summer.

"Signing Meunier would make sense for Spurs.

"There's no transfer fee, he's 28 and he plays regularly for Belgium - the No. 1 ranked national team in the world."

Spurs are short at right-back, with Serge Aurier the only recognised name in that position, and Jan Vertonghen on his way out of the club.

Pochettino the man to make Newcastle dreams come true

Mauricio Pochettino could soon be back in the dugout amid reports Newcastle United want him to take on the top job at St James' Park.

Linked with the Manchester United and Real Madrid hotseats in the past, the Argentine is currently out of work following his dismissal from Tottenham back in November.

However, that could be about to change if the Saudi Arabia-funded £300million takeover of the Tyneside club is given the green light.

Although Steve Bruce is currently at the helm after replacing Rafael Benitez at the start of the season, the experienced manager looks on course to depart as the club's prospective new owners look to bring in a big name that can take the Magpies to the next level.

Amid previous links with Real Madrid and a return to Spain, he indicated back in February that he would be very much open to another Premier League position.

"To be honest, I would love to work in the Premier League," he said when speaking on the In The Pink podcast. "It's going to be difficult, I know, and for now it's a moment to wait and we'll see what happens.

"It's a moment of recovery, to think about yourself a little bit, and to be ready because in football always something can happen and you need to be ready.

Pochettino is believed to be their first choice and reports suggest they are willing to pay him £19million a year to take charge.

Pictures of Mourinho wearing PPE while carrying produce from Hotspur Way, before delivering it to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, were published on Instagram.

Spurs’ training ground is currently a hub for the NHS and for food distribution, acting as a base for Haringey council to divert resources to those in need locally.

Mourinho and a number of Spurs players have been criticised in recent weeks for flouting social distancing rules by training together, but the Portuguese looks to have his heart in the right place with his latest efforts.
