Here is your Tottenham digest for Wednesday, August 19.
Mourinho's transfer vision
Tottenham are moving rather early in the transfer market this year compared to recent seasons.
Whereas the club have tended to do their business in the days leading up to the transfer deadline over the past few years, as was the case in 2017 with five incomings in the final eights days of the window, Spurs are set to announce their second summer signing as they prepare for the 2020/21 campaign.
Following the addition of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on a five-year deal from Southampton last Tuesday, Jose Mourinho is now on the verge of adding Joe Hart to his squad following his release from Burnley.
A few years ago the arrival of the 33-year-old would have seen him fight it out with Hugo Lloris for the No.1 spot, yet now the ex-Man City man is coming in as third-choice to provide cover for the Frenchman and Paulo Gazzaniga.
Hart's first words
Joe Hart is now officially a Tottenham player after completing his move to the club.
Released by Burnley in the summer after two years at Turf Moor, Jose Mourinho has moved quickly to tie the experienced shot-stopper down to a two-year contract.
Hart, who becomes the club's second signing ahead of the 2020/21 season following the addition of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, will challenge Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga for a place between the sticks.
Speaking to Spurs TV about his transfer to the club, the 33-year-old opened up on his move, challenging Lloris and having the chance to work under Mourinho.
Luka Modric reveals just how close he came to a Chelsea transfer
Luka Modric has revealed he met Roman Abramovich on his personal yacht to discuss a move from Tottenham to Chelsea in 2011.
The Blues were desperate to sign the Croatian midfielder after he impressed for Spurs but saw several bids knocked back.
In his new book, Luka Modric: My Autobiography, which publishes on 20 August, the Real Madrid star details the inside frustrations as negotiations between the clubs went on.
"With the 2010-11 Premier League season over, I was ready for my summer vacation," Modric explained in his new book.
