Jose Mourinho's Tottenham training session: Who trained, what they did and a surprising absence

The Tottenham Hotspur players trained in the driving wind and rain on Tuesday and there was one surprising absence in particular bearing in mind their current situation.

Spurs confirmed the news on Tuesday that Son Heung-min would be undergoing surgery this week on his fractured right arm and football.london understands the South Korean star could be out from anywhere between six and 12 weeks.

He was of course absent as the Spurs players were led out for their training session on Tuesday at Hotspur Way. Fellow injured stars Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Juan Foyth are all continuing their rehabilitation.

However as the Tottenham players emerged on to the Hotspur Way pitches and were split into two groups for their early fitness, control and shooting drills, it was clear that one player had returned from injury.

Erik Lamela was back out with the squad and he and Giovani Lo Celso were taken across to work with a group that contained the outfield players who started in the 3-2 victory at Aston Villa.

Among those in the other group were Jan Vertonghen, Tanguy Ndombele, Gedson Fernandes, Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon, as well as young academy defenders Dennis Cirkin and Malachi Walcott.

The goalkeepers Hugo Lloris, Paulo Gazzaniga, Michel Vorm and Alfie Whiteman began their session by playing football table tennis before moving on to the pitches.

Despite Tottenham having no fit senior striker to call upon, Mourinho did not include 18-year-old forward Troy Parrott in the training session.

The young Ireland international is not believed to be injured and the Spurs boss said during his press conference earlier in the afternoon that Parrott, who has played in the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season, is "not ready".

However, with Tottenham's current injury woes the striker was still expected to be involved in training with fellow academy teenagers Cirkin and Walcott.
