Jose Mourinho has already spoken to Tammy Abraham as Roma look to sign the Chelsea striker this summer.
It comes as Romelu Lukaku prepares to sign for the Blues in a club-record £97m transfer from Inter Milan.
Thomas Tuchel has been desperate to bring in a forward this window with Erling Haaland his top target, but Borussia Dortmund were not prepared to lose their main man.
It led the Stamford Bridge outfit to move onto the next target in Lukaku where a deal was struck relatively quickly.
But with the Belgian set to sign, it means that Abraham will see his limited game-time decrease even further.
Inter have moved quickly to replace Lukaku by signing Edin Dzeko from AS Roma, who have moved for the Chelsea striker in a transfer roundabout.
The Stadio Olimpico side have had a £35m fee accepted by the Blues but Abraham has yet to agree to a deal to move to Serie A.
According to The Athletic, Mourinho has already spoken to the 23-year-old in a bid to convince him to join him in Italy.
Arsenal are also interested in the forward, who would prefer to stay in London, but Roma are prepared to make the youngster their main man up front whereas the pressure is on Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.
Other Premier League exports have done well in Serie A in recent years, including Chelsea pal Fikayo Tomori at AC Milan and Chris Smalling at Roma.
Mourinho has coached Abraham before at Chelsea during his second stint though he never played under The Special One.

Despite the former Aston Villa loanee's woes under Tuchel last season, Abraham still finished as the club's joint-top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions.
The Camberwell-born ace was left frustrated by the Chelsea manager's decisions, including leaving him out of both the FA Cup final and Champions League final squads.
However, he is in the squad to face Villarreal tonight in the Super Cup despite the speculation over his future.
And Tuchel has admitted Abraham has every right to feel aggrieved with him for his lack of football.
"I will not comment on the actual situations - how far this is and if it's true and not true," Tuchel said.
Where should Abraham go this summer? Comment below

"Tammy is right now in the squad. He did some good preparation matches.
"He was clearly not happy with the last half a year and maybe he has reason also not to be happy and maybe it was also my fault not to push him, not to trust him on the same level I maybe trusted other players.
"I can absolutely understand that he wants more minutes. So the decision will be 'how do we plan, what are Tammy's plans, does he fight his way back into the team from the position where he ended last season or does he want to change club to have the chance of being a regular starter?'"
